Launch of ‘Build an Orphanage in a Day’ Project
Jabulani Children’s Home will launch the ‘build an orphanage in a day’ project on Friday 5 Sept. at the Bangor Elim Church and Monday 8 Sept. at the Millennium Forum in Londonderry/Derry.
The Elim Church is located at Balloo Crescent and the meeting starts at 7.30. Speakers will include Jabulani co-founder Alan Graham and Shaun Murphy, the former world snooker champion. The Millennium Forum meeting also will start at 7.30.
The ‘build an orphanage in a day’ project has been set up to build and support the Jabulani Children’s Home in Harare. Jabulani wants to encourage people to donate a day’s wages to kick start the project. Resources are vital at this turbulent time in Zimbabwe.
Jabulani owns a 5-bedroom house on two acres of land. The building needs to be fully renovated and refitted to suit its new role. The home will primarily care for babies who have been orphaned through the AIDS epidemic and give them a future and a family.
Zimbabwe has 80% unemployment and those who are lucky enough to have a job barely get enough to feed their families. By donating an average day’s wage you will be providing enough money to employ a local tradesman for two months at a wage that will allow them to support their family, so not only will children gain from the orphanage but the local people and their families will benefit from the work.
